Love Your Neighbor ... Part Two

The second day of the "porch project" I was absent most of the day because I was working.  I remember thinking I would get a message any time stating the project was cancelled for the day because IT. WAS. RAINING. NON-STOP.

I never did get that message though.

This is what it looked like when I got there.
Everything and everyone was covered in mud!

They had spent the entire day trying to dig for the new posts, then dealing with the holes filling up with water, then having to work with the mud sinking -and- suctioning  ...  just very challenging all around.

Andrew made friends with this hole and stayed close to it for a long time ... to ensure its stability remained consistent, of course.

It was a dirty job ... but somebody had to do it!

We had joked, yet secretly hoped, that we would dig up a hidden treasure underneath all that dirt ... something that had been stashed away for a really LONG time.

And They DID!!!!

This REALLY OLD horseshoe was buried in all that mud just waiting to be discovered!
[The horseshoe has always been an auspicious symbol.  It was considered especially lucky if you found an old horseshoe.  Many believe the horseshoe which if found by chance has tenfold the power of a purchased horseshoe.  All superstitious people agree that hanging horseshoe above your door will protect the home and promote good luck.

Some say it is most important to hang your horseshoe with the points upwards. They argue that this must be done or your luck will escape.  Others mention hanging the horseshoe sideways; this has been the case in some Christian communities. They have created their own symbolism.  Choosing to show the horseshoe sideways they say it may be considered a symbol of Christ as it resembles a “C”; the power of the iron being the strength of Christ. I don't think any of us is superstitious but it is pretty special to find this relic and they will most certainly be displaying it in some way.

Each post was manually dug (using a manual post-hole digger, that is).  This can be long and strenuous but not as harsh as if the hole were being dug with only a shovel.
Then, they placed the 4x4 post, pursuant to the ..., and then the cement was added so that it could set around the post.

The mud was pretty serious!

But they got the posts in to set ... it was a long day with several set-backs but they prevailed in the end.  That's always the way of it you know.
Just stay focused and you'll get there.

Do you remember way back when Sesame Street used to be super-awesome??  Like back when I was a little kid?  I mean, it's pretty okay now ... but back then ... WHOA!!

Anyway ... remember the little song they used to sing ...
one of these things is not like the others
one of these things just doesn't belong...

...and there'd be four boxes on the screen (i.e. below)

One of these things is not like the others
one of these things doesn't belong here ...

Somebody in the photo above just isn't as muddy as the others.
Wouldn't you all like to know how that is even possible?
I sure would ...
